Friends, if you've known me very long, you know I am totally ALL things of the Kapha Dosha. My energy is solid, heavy and dense. My body is thick, I have a natural softness and roundness. I prefer slow, steady, grounding practices. As you can imagine, fast paced, high octane movement isn't for me. Some of you may be right here with me. Today is not about Kapha Dosha, it's about movement. But I felt like you needed a little backstory, before we dive in. Let me be clear,( in case your are wondering) I detest the word exercise and every connotation that it brings to mind. I'm done with all the things that make me cringe and hurt my joints.(and my boobs if I am being honest) But I know, I feel better mentally and physically when I move and yes, sometimes sweat. So what if, we all pause for a moment and ask ourselves, What is fun? What activities make me laugh? What did I love to do when I was a kid? I think we will find our movement jam. For me, as a kid I loved swimming, dancing, riding my bike and roller skating. All of these things bring a smile to my face just typing about them. They brought me joy! So last year, before Covid, I took a belly dancing class (it was the BEST!). I put a disco ball in my yoga room (thanks to my bestie), made a kick ass playlist and dancing is my cardio. I got a paddleboard for my pool and started practicing paddleboard yoga. A few years ago, my hubby got me a bike ( a Jimmy Buffet cruiser with a parrot horn) OMG! It's takes me right back to my old neighborhood and I feel so free! This year, I'm buying rollerskates! Yep, they are sitting in my Amazon cart as I type this and I'm so excited about them I can hardly wait. I don't care if people look at my 55 year old ass with curious amusement.... All I'm saying is "Buy the skates". (or the hoola hoop or jump rope)
